PRACTICAL CONSTRUCTION GUIDANCE

Request construction support: prepare tasks, access and timing

A useful enquiry describes more than a requested number of helpers. Specific tasks, the condition of the site and coordination with other trades are the starting point. Preparing these details makes the first conversation easier; availability, staffing and scope still need to be agreed.

Section 01

1. Describe the result you need

List tasks by area: preparing work zones, positioning agreed materials or tidying after a construction phase, for example. State what is complete, what remains and which tasks should happen first. A clear sequence is more useful than a general request for help on site.

State the boundaries of the enquiry as well. Cleaning, clearance, transport and technical work are different tasks. If you need several services, list them separately so the discussion can establish what KnaBa can undertake and which prerequisites still need attention.

Section 02

2. Clarify timing and dependencies

Give the preferred date range and possible working hours. Explain whether you expect one visit or several construction phases. Identify fixed handover dates and dates that are still provisional. An enquiry by itself does not confirm a booking.

Record which deliveries or preceding tasks must be complete before support starts. Name a contact who can communicate changes. If the state of the site changes, scope and timing can be discussed again before the team travels to the location.

Section 03

3. Describe access and site arrangements

For the first discussion, provide the location or postcode, building type, floors and areas concerned. Mention delivery access, stairs, lifts and known access restrictions. Describe materials by type, quantity and dimensions; leave unknown details as questions to clarify.

Clarify with the responsible site manager who will provide the site briefing and which rules or approvals apply. Do not include access codes, identity documents or confidential plans in an initial enquiry. If photos would help, first agree a suitable transfer method and which details are needed.

Section 04

4. Agree extra work and completion separately

Core drilling, openings and other technical services do not automatically form part of a construction-support enquiry. Required expertise, responsibility and commissioning need separate agreement. Discuss any waste disposal explicitly too: a request for clearance does not define a complete disposal service.

Before work begins, agree how completion will be checked and who will answer questions. Record changes, outstanding items and any requested next steps. Price, timing and a confirmed order come from the project-specific agreement, not from this guide.
